Schaferfest

The annual sheep festival beside the Daubensee, usually on the last Sunday in July.
Traditionally all the sheep were rounded up to give them their salt dose for the summer. Now they seem to get sheepnuts and salt, along with lots of spectators. Some years there can be 1000 sheep of all types, including brown sheep and the comical Walliser sheep.

There always seem to be a lot of the shepherds take part in the annual tug-of-war between Bern and Wallis:
